Maureen A. McGuire was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1981, as well as the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois (including Trial Bar), Central District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. She received her B.S. in 1978 from Loyola University and her J.D. in 1981 from De Paul University. Ms. McGuire was a member of the De Paul Law Review, 1979-1980 (Casenote published) and is Martindale-Hubbell AV rated. She is an author and speaker for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education and American Association of Railroads, Claim School. Her memberships include: Defense Research Institute, Director of Norwood Life Society (Chairman 2011-2013) and National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel (Executive and Management Committee member and President 2020-2021). She was listed in Top Lawyers of Chicago, Transportation Law, 2012. Ms. McGuire has been selected as a Leading Lawyer since 2017.
Ms. McGuire has thirty nine years of corporate, real estate and defense litigation experience. She has significant trial experience, and of note obtained a very rare not guilty jury verdict in a Cook County, Illinois FELA case where the plaintiff’s claimed damages exceeded $1 million. Ms. McGuire also prevailed in a significant contract dispute at the trial and appellate levels. She has acquired significant transactional experience in representing the firm’s corporate clients, associations and not-for-profit corporations.
