Gerald Huston concentrates his practice primarily on insurance coverage disputes and nursing home/long-term care defense matters. He earned his B.A. from Northern Illinois University, M.A. from the University of Illinois at Springfield, and J.D. from Northern Illinois University, where he was graduated summa cum laude.
Gerald began his legal career at Lord, Bissell & Brook, a top-ten Chicago law firm, where he developed his expertise in insurance coverage counseling and representation, nursing home and medical negligence defense, and general tort litigation. Gerald has extensive experience advising and representing insurers in all aspects of insurance coverage disputes, including declaratory judgment actions in state and federal courts. In the nursing home realm, Gerald advises and defends long-term care facilities in tort litigation and regulatory actions across the country, serves as national nursing home counsel for a large insurer of long-term care facilities, and has drafted non-ISO LTC policy language and endorsements for insurers. Gerald’s broad background in tort litigation includes both state and federal matters ranging from catastrophic injury cases, property damage, and contract disputes to more complicated construction litigation, consumer fraud, and EMTALA actions. A former newspaper reporter, Gerald also advises and represents media clients in FOIA, Open Meetings, libel/defamation, and other press freedom matters. He is licensed in Illinois and Florida and practices in state and federal courts in both jurisdictions.
