Whitney L. Burkett concentrates her practice of law in the areas of Medical Malpractice Litigation, Hospital Liability Defense, Long-Term Care Litigation, Railroad Litigation, and Premises Liability Defense.  Having grown up in Memphis, Tennessee, Ms. Burkett received her BS in Psychology from Tulane University in 2003 and her JD from DePaul University College of Law in 2009.  Since being admitted to the Illinois Bar in 2009, she has also been admitted to practice in the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois of the United States District Court as well as before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.  She has also been provisionally admitted to practice in at least eight other states pro hac vice.

Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Burkett then went to work for the City of Chicago, working in the Administrative Litigation Division before moving into private practice in the area of insurance defense.  Ms. Burkett worked on a variety of personal injury cases, including medical negligence, products liability, transportation, medical device, construction negligence, and long-term care matters.  During that time, she focused her practice on defending medical organizations and professionals against catastrophic injury claims in various jurisdictions all over the country.  She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Chicagoland Healthcare and Risk Management Society, and the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys.
